Sex Ed: The Untold Truth About Having Babies

By now, most of you know that I have a brand new baby girl. She is by far my greatest achievement. That being said, there are a considerable amount of details of parent life that they do not warn you about before you conceive. This blog is my version of Sex Ed for those considering the mommy and daddy life. Please sit back and enjoy a glass of vodka or cup of coffee while you can!

Let us begin with mommy life. If you are planning to be a mommy you should be prepared to not only devote all of your time to baby but also all of your body. I used to believe that I was in control of my body and its purpose. The little milk sucking zombie that is my baby has taught me differently. My baby can zone in on one of my boobs from across the room and it will immediately ache with the production of milk. She has powers I never knew could exist. Once a boob is in her range she will grab a hold and latch on for dear life, rendering me defenseless.

When baby is finished extracting the life out of me, she moves to my shoulder where she will expel all of her saliva and vomit on to my skin and clothes. Then the beast must sleep to regain her strength for the next feeding. This vicious cycle is said to continue for at least a year, if not 2.

Fig. 1 The Beast in its natural habitat

Fig.2 The Beast shows its sharp fangs

If you are planning to breast feed there are numerous variables to consider. First and foremost, you cannot do any of the good drugs while breastfeeding because they will transfer to your baby. You can plan to pump and dump for at least a week but trust me, you will not want to waste all that hard earned milk. Breastfeeding hurts! I love to read facebook posts and see instagram pics of moms declaring their love for breastfeeding and how it is the greatest gift to humankind. What they aren't telling you (but I am sure they are telling their baby daddy's) is that breastfeeding hurts, and it hurts a lot. Your boobs will ache and swell, your nipples will crack and any small draft can cause them pain. Worst of all they can create Mas Titis, I mean mastitis. Mastits is the clogging of the milk ducts inside your breasts. You will be able to feel bumps on your breasts where the milk is gathering and it hurts like hell. Not all women will have these problems but I guarantee if you ask a majority of women who breastfed they will tell you they have felt the wrath in one way or another. Not to fear, breastfeeding does get better after about a month of delivery as long as you take good care of you and your milk makers.

It will undoubtedly take you an extra hour to leave your house when you plan to go out. Make sure to have three hours prior to your engagement to get ready. This includes preparing your baby bag, defrosted milk bags for the baby sitter (yes, you have to freeze milk after you pump it because eventually baby will need more than you can provide),  and your makeup bag because you will only have time to do your makeup in the car.

Enough about moms let's get to the dads. Dad, if you have a steady gym routine don't be alarmed if that goes out the window. Don't be too discouraged because you will eventually figure out how to get your life back. In the meantime, your schedule will have to revolve around mom and baby and when they need to sleep. If mom doesn't get her sleep, you do not get your sanity, so beware. Extracurricular activity such as surfing, snowboarding, smoking, partying and/or sex all have to be on hold until a pattern in the household is created. Patience is a virtue.

Dads, you do not get enough credit. Not only are you thrown into parenthood without the added nurturing brain cells that moms grow postpartum, you also have to deal with moms and their hormones that are quite frankly terrifying at times. So, cheers to you dad! Crack open a beer and watch the fight, you deserve it!

Well I hope you learned something from my version of Sex Ed. If you are to leave this blog with only one piece of information, let it be this: Do not have sex, because you will get pregnant and you will not be able to party or go to Vegas for many years after. You will however gain a small human who will undoubtedly be a way better person than you are today. That little human deserves the very best so try YOUR best to provide him or her with all the love and care you can give. You won't regret it!

Love always.......

You Belong To The City

Today is Christopher Wallace's, (Biggie Smalls, Notorious B.I.G.) birthday. What better way to celebrate the love for a big city then cruising in your car under the shadow of big buildings and street lights, voices in your ears saying "Biggie Gimme One More Chance..." Notorious B.I.G. lived in a concrete jungle and broke out of Brooklyn with no shame in his game. Big belly, black as night, selling rocks, not giving a Fuck gangsta ass rapper. That's the city for you. If you are going to survive a big city you have to own it or it will swallow you up into the night, lost in its flashing lights.

Recently returned from my hometown of Toronto I am reminded of what life really means. Living here in Tampa, Florida it is easy to slide through the sunny days making my career moves one step at a time with the help from my big sister. It became too easy so I didn't push hard or fast enough. Boys have come and gone knowing they can't keep up. I am not where I should be. Not for long, my visit to Toronto this past week re-opened my eyes. The city is alive, the struggle is real. Young cats on the streets admiring my moves from NY, to Toronto, to Tampa, and now to Maui. What does it all mean if you can't satisfy you inner human instinct to Divide and Conquer. Moving and change will keep me alive, humble and intelligent but going home will make me stronger. Toronto is cold. As much as I would love to move back home and run my streets I couldn't, it's too cold. Much of my existence lives in Toronto, and most of my heart stays with the people that I love and could never live without even if all I have left is their memory. The city ignites a fire inside of me that could only come out when I'm wondering her streets, high on her alcohol content and potent herbs. I love her like a mother who taught me how to love and abandon love when I need too. What's next on the map?

Maui. The Hawaiian Islands are mysterious and filled with legends. Untouched paths and waterfalls flowing into deep caves with black sands. In the middle of the Pacific ocean there is a paradise calling my name. In the middle of those deep blue waters with white sands and palm trees, waves so perfectly shaped for your body to slide right back to shore lies a small city waiting for some new flavor. The city has shaped me, fit for any obstacle that comes my way. A woman of many faces, I will add to the Island without taking away from her natural state and all she has to offer.

Thank you New York, Toronto, Tampa....... Aloha Maui.

Something For Me....Ok And You Too

Tired of being the same old person day in and day out? Is routine inescapable in this corporate America? Ever feel like you are not special, that your mere existence is minuscule in the grand scheme of things? Well more likely  then not those thoughts are true. The majority of the human race, in my opinion, are living their lives wasted getting lost in the shuffle. Am I any different? No, not by any means. However, from the wise words of some of the greatest philosophers of our time, I have decided to "Fight For My Right To Party!" Therefore, I am going to do whatever I want whenever I want until my short time here on this Earth comes to an end. Now, does this mean acting a fool or hurting others along the way without any care of their feelings? No it does not, I did not say I am going to be selfish. Does this mean acting through crazy criminal acts like that movie the purge, (which was a disappointment FYI), of course not I have no intention of deliberately breaking the law (drugs not included).

I am going to live for me and I am sorry to tell you your opinions of me are not going to change my actions. That being said, this blog was a shameful plug to get my photo shoot out into the public without feeling ashamed of my half nakedness. I have recently decided to put myself in front of the camera and see where it gets me. Although I do hope this photo shoot helps my career as a skank, I mean as a model/actress, I really decided to put myself out there because I wanted to feel good about myself. I was at an unsure point in my life and my confidence, which is usually quite high, was at an all time low. I took my emotions and issues into my own hands and I went out and took a chance and I did it for me. I love my photos and I encourage others (that means you) to get out there and do something for yourself.  Although you may be a small spec in this infinite Universe, the fact remains that you deserve to be happy. Enjoy!

Religiousless

Dear God of Facebook,

I am glad you read my Facebook posts because at least once a day I like to update my status to something similar to this;

God is Good,

I Thank The Lord for this beautiful day,

God Bless You,

I LOVE GOD's DICK!!!

Seriously, where have all you bandwagon God lovers come from and WHY do you think God is reading your Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler or whatever? Now now, before you have a fanatical freak out and proclaim to be a God lover from the beginning this particular blog is mainly for the born agains. There is nothing wrong with having Faith in someone or something you can't see or hear, that is exactly how I feel about Louis Vuitton shoes. I know they are out there, and that one day I might be able to reach them, but for now I just have to have the faith.

There are a number of people on facebook who feel it necessary to have a daily update on their status to ensure God is involved. Why, I ask, just Why? Is God reading your news feed? Are you trying to annoy people? Do you think you can convert someone through Facebook? Does involving God in your Facebook status make you more righteous and therefore a better believer than others? Are you making it a point to have it known you are a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or whatever the case may be? Can you still have atheist friends? These are all questions I really would like answers too.

Some of the Religious Facebookers are/were my friends. I am truly interested in finding out when and where this sudden burst of God love came from. I am not just trying to be a pompous asshole, and please call me out if you think I am one, I am just curious. I know most of my Facebook friends personally. Where and when did the change from the two of us hanging out, having a good time, drinking a few adult beverages, watching some porn, hating on people, and maybe smoking some of the devil's lettuce morph into Praise Jesus?

I get it. Some people need to turn over a new leaf when they do not like the path they are heading down. God is sometimes on the other side of that leaf, or so I've heard. God is a promise that no matter how shitty your life is, there is a purpose to it. God promises the next life will be better. Well, for your sake I hope he or she is right! However, until then, please keep your status updates about your God and his praise to yourself. No one cares how much you love God. In fact, some people may look at you completely different and choose to unfriend you because you have nothing else to offer other then blind faith.

Thanks for your time once again friends.

*footnote: this blog is all a personal opinion ;-)

Let's Talk About Sex

Let's talk about sex baby, let's talk about you and me. Let's talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be, let's talk about sex!

Lately some of my readers (who don't repost my blog) have asked me to be a bit more sexually open. They have asked for me to be more like I am in person. Well, don't be mad because you asked for it!

Today's music is very sexually explicit. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. For the most part I will be listening to the lyrics of rappers and rock artists alike and wondering where these mothafuckers got the idea that they will rock my world in bed. I dare them to try (really Drake you can try anytime). What really gets my panties all in a bunch isn't just the rappers, it is the young jits who come to the club and think that by dancing and singing along to these lyrics they suddenly possess the power to make ladies "pop that pussy for a real nigga." Nigga pleassseee. You do not possess Lil Wayne's black card, and I know you are not good enough to satisfy me so pleeaaasee do not approach me. Grabbing, squeezing, and pulling are also things you should not attempt to do to me if you are a stranger. Aggressive actions, such as those I just mentioned, only make me think you are an aggressive rapist and I want nothing to do with you. ;-)

And then come the athletes. I may or may not have dabbled in the fine art of athletics in my past. For the most part, stealth and longevity do an athlete well. There is sufficient muscle tone and an overall satisfaction rate of 90%. However, you athletes out there are not created by the beard of Zeus. If I had your physical capabilities and practice I would dominate my partner in bed. Maybe I wouldn't just engage in the activities with the attitude of someone who doesn't have to try, instead I would master them like I do my sport. Most people know that athletes are addicted to porn due to so many hours of travel and Tiger Woods so try to learn a lesson or two while you are at it. Through my extensive research I have found that in the game of sexual activity it still remains Cass - 1 Athlete - 0.

Now, you every day Joe six packs are not off the hook. After many years of girl talk I have heard some horror stories about you "gentlemen." Don't get me wrong, there are some nasty females out there and they need to check themselves before they wreck themselves, but I'll save that for another day.

Here are some don'ts for you guys; do not skip foreplay, do not forget to wash, do not smack a girl's ass more then 3 times consecutively, do not lightly pull our hair (pull it hard), do not tell us what to do when we are already doing it better than you expected (duh), do not use baby talk, do not compare us to your exes, do not keep your socks on, do not let your sweat drop onto our foreheads, do not dead weight us like a dying wrestler, do not be afraid to take charge, and finally do not force anything (instead use lube, not water, when needed). Here are some do's for you guys; do talk dirty, do take it slow sometimes, do teach the willing to be better but do it politely, do play sexy time music, do play with our hair when we are down there, do use toys when appropriate, do undress us, do wait for us (selfish), do use multiple positions but not every 2 seconds, do use your fingers and do it well, do ask us what we want, do try new things, do find something that works and stick with it, and finally do be rough and do have a big penis (lol).

There, I feel relieved I got all of this built up information out there into the viral world. Thanks to all those in the past who have got me to where I am today, and that is way better than you.

In The Year 2013

With another year closing in behind us, it is time yet again to recap the adventures had. Scrolling down my list of blogs to find my recap of 2011, I found that I do not write quite as often as I should, (if you agree you will re-post this blog, NOW). Upon reading my 2011 recap, I was pleased to find that I had accomplished most of the goals I set for 2012; focusing on friends and family, working hard and finding time for fun, and most importantly traveling. At the end of September into the beginning of October, 2012, two friends, my boyfriend and I traveled to Hawaii for two weeks. Those two weeks changed my life forever. For the first week we lived on the beautiful "Green Isle" of Kauai. Kauai is so lush and vibrant, it was like walking through a painting. From hiking and kayaking through the Wailua river, surfing in famous shark filled waters, to jumping off of Queen's Bath into the rockiest waters I have ever been in, the adventures were never ending. And the food! The food is never to be forgotten in Kauai.

Maui, the "Valley Isle" is like living in a Utopia. It does not seem like it is possible, here on the main land to live in a place where modern society and the good life co-exist. However on Maui, everyone is happy. With the surf and beaches calling your name every morning, Mai Tai's and happy hour waiting for you, sunsets that are to die for, Maui Brewing company/Maui Wowie keeping your senses happy, Maui has to be a future home. The first time I put my snorkel on in Maui and walked off the sand at Airport Beach to immediately swim deep into colorful living coral surrounded by schools of fish, I knew I was home. There is no life in the world that exists that can compare to life in Hawaii. Period.

Now, with the awakening of Hawaii, I discovered as 2012 was a year of fun and family, 2013 must be the year of fortune. Working towards my goals is fun and all but achieving them I believe will be much more fun. In 2013 my friends and I must be profitable. Everyone I surround myself with is a hard working, each with enough determination to become successful at what they do and what they want to do. This coming year I intend to see not only myself but everyone around me grow and excel to heights we could never imagine. More times than not I speak my actions rather than do them, it is time for change! (Wait, was that last year?) Often times I speak about how much charity I could give rather than actually being charitable. I have already made that change and intend to keep on giving. Even with my misfortunes I am still way more fortunate then most others, and I can make a difference. Whatever I put into the world, the world will send back to me.

Where We're Going.....

Let me be blunt. This blog is only written as a means to unleash my inner thoughts and actions that I keep bottled up more often then not. My close and personal friends, which have come down to very few living here in Tampa, know my true nature and intentions. Many would describe me as; kind, giving, loving, generous, cheerful, and positive. Others scorned would describe me as; heartless, cold, selfish, insane, and an over all bitch. To each their own. I know in my heart all I want is true love and world peace ;-).

A wise man once said;

"Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves."
      -Confucius

My past is meant to be left in the past, and I know that now. For example, if I still thought as I use to in my past, I might get upset that my ex best friend is now dating my ex f**k buddy. For example of course. Or, I might be upset that I haven't yet moved into the career position I expected to be in at this point in my life. However, my common sense and now level headed way of thinking after many a bad relationship have thought me a life lesson that I hope never to forget. I just don't give a fuck. Not in a bitter, "I hate the world kind of way," but in a way that I have never given less fucks in my life. There is no time to dwell over matters that no longer concern me nor will prove to be beneficial to my future. If I have not yet achieved my goal career, that just means I am not working hard enough. Life is too short and I am surrounded by much more interesting and profitable situations then my past experiences to concern myself any further. Henceforth only fun is to be had. Drinking, dancing, concerts, friends, family, fame....I want it all and nothing is holding me back.

This sense of awakening comes from my ability to see my true worth. Also, I can now see the worth of the people around me. Instead of giving my all, as I always do to each new person that enters my life, I am learning to say no. Now, I can turn my back on those unworthy of my time and effort. Games are for the unsure. This awakening also comes from meeting a worthy adversary. Constant stimulation, affection, rejection, criticism, love, dining, dancing, courting and of coarse, the sex. These are a few of my favorite things.

Debby Does Florida

Captain's Log:

June 26th, 2012

Tropical Storm Debby is running over Florida on her way to the Gulf. Not only are her winds and rains destroying Florida and all its wonders, it has taken along with it some of the romantic ideas that once engulfed my being. Going through ups and downs is definitely apart of life, however, with the current events going on not only in my own life but in the world around me it is hard not to believe in the end of the World's coming. I used to consider myself the Grand Optimist. Slowly, the harsh realities of inevitable disappointment have become apart of my everyday life. It may be my own doing and my own karma coming back to haunt me, but I refuse to let the world get the best of me.

I am a firm believer in when one door closes, another door opens. There are moments and events in life that have become pivotal in the sense of progression. For EXAMPLE:

becoming engaged.

For as long as I can remember I have imagined and thought about the day prince charming got down on his knee before me and asked me the oh so serious question. At the same token, I have tried my best to resist the urge to have my age be a reason to get married. Let's just say, I now know how strong my will is.

Although the winds are changing, and the the world is shifting, I will stay true to myself. Everyone makes mistakes, and maybe I do more then others, but I will not settle for less than the best. A pivotal moment has finally crossed my path, and I have overcome it. The outcome was not what I expected and my battle wounds will last for sometime leaving behind scars. Appreciating what I had and what I lost won't elude me. My aggressive, reluctant, and stubborn behavior are probably the cause of my own misfortune. However, just like Florida will overcome Tropical Storm Debby, I will move on and venture through the next door that opens.

In closing,
F U Society, I am twenty-six and marriage is not yet in the cards for me! I have been in love, and I will be in love again. I tried to force happily ever after, I tried listening to my peers and what they could only see from the outside. It wasn't right. Not only am I hurt but someone I truly loved is also hurt. Now, I am wide-eyed and ready to see my true fate. I will make my Pinocchio come to life. To infinity and beyond! (If Bieber can quote Toy Story so can I).

Stormy seas ahead.....

It Could Be Nice To Be Alive

Apparently, women around the world are going crazy over the book, Fifty Shades of Grey. Although I admire the fact that women are opening up to explore their sexuality and fitting some reading time in, I have to ask why they need advise from someone who looks like this:

Not that looks have anything to do with sex, (if you have ever had the unfortunate event of watching a "Real Sex" episode you know what I'm talking about). Always being the exception in my group of girlfriends, I have no shame in my game when it comes to talking about sex. I am the Samantha of Sex and the City if you will. Even still, when my girlfriends and I get together over a glass of wine to indulge in recent activities, I find myself wondering why women still allow the double standard to hold them back from indulging in the secret sexual fantasies that have haunted them their whole lives. Immediately, after reading that sentence, I know there at least ten guys out there, (and maybe my mother), judging my morals and assuming me to be a slut. I did not say, "hey, go out there and have no standards (Lennie) and sleep with as many people as possible," I simply mean it shouldn't take a semi-erotic "novel" to open up inhibitions.

Being twenty-six makes me feel like I am losing all my crazy experiences as I get comfortable in my future career possibilities. I was scared of losing the sex in an elevator, pool, hot tub, beach, movie theater, hammock, hotel room, back seat, library, park, club, balcony, laundry room....ect. days.  Little did I know they were just beginning. Now, when I look at a younger gentlemen, young and constantly horny, I can only imagine how much experience I have on him and how much of a waste of time it would be to inquire on such a young conquest. Then, I look at my older friends and relatives, in their 40's and 50's, and although it is still gross, I realize I have so much to learn and explore when it comes to sex.

All I am saying is, keep your Fifty Shades of Grey, I'll take my Friday night over that novel any day ;-)

Let us not forget...

I'm Not A Player I Just Crush A Lot

In memory a great rapper out of the Bronx, New York, on the anniversary of his death, I will be  recognizing Big Punisher. Some people are very certain that there is only one true love for each and every one of us out there. Other people, such as Big Pun and I, believe that those believers are "player haters." We are lovers not fighters. I am personally trying to shove this double standard in your face and show you that women are now running the dating game, (Yes, I have a smile on my face while I type this.)

Big Pun was proof that it did not matter what shape, size, or color you are, you could still get your lover on as long as you can spit game. I know both men and women around the world get hyped up when they hear an artist that can rock your world with their lyrics. Artists that can make you say DAMMMNNNN! As has been the case with so many great New York rappers, Big Pun was taken from us too soon. Big Pun was always looking to experiment with his songs, working with a ride range of artists such as The Beatnuts, Wyclef, Joe, Terror Squad, Dead Prez, Noreaga, Prodigy, Busta Rhymes, Ashanti, Remi Martin, and the list goes on.

Back when New York was dominating the rap scene, Big Pun was the creme of the crop. Today we have rappers such as Lil Wayne, Tyga, Waka Flocka Flame bringing a southern feel to the scene. Whatever your preference may be, there is no denying Big Pun changed the game.

In The Year 2012

As the year 2011 comes to an end, it is only natural to take a look back and reflect at the years events. My past year is filled with growth, change, and the inevitable disappointment. It is impossible to find achievement without disappointment; therefore, I say, "Bring On The New Year!"

Although I  agree resolutions are a great way to set goals in motion, I have never made a resolution myself. I am not planning on starting in the year 2012 either. Instead, I can only hope to learn from my mistakes of this past year and move on into the future with more knowledge and experience than the last. It has occurred to me that I may be experiencing a quarter life crisis. Routine and structure have become mundane to me and I am constantly on the hunt for new adventures. Sometimes we let the notion of achieving goals and having fun simultaneously seem impossible. In the year 2012, nothing is to be impossible.

Two days ago, (New Years Eve Eve if you will) as I was applying my eye makeup in the mirror and I had a sudden epiphany. There are 365 days in a year, (usually) and out of those 365 days North Americans for the most part only allow themselves one to two weeks of vacation time. Out of all those days in a year, we have to SCHEDULE our fun. That kind of life will never be for me. Therefore, I hereby dedicate the year 2012 to the year of pure pleasure. Now some of you may be thinking that will be hard to accomplish with work and school, however, I intend to make it work by having a positive attitude towards all my endeavors. It does not have to be extravagant pleasure, sometimes just the small dose that is needed to keep the stimuli happy (wink wink).

Family and friends will come first and above all in the year 2012. Goals will be set and made with the help of my positive attitude. I will travel and experience the great big world that is out there waiting to be embarked on by yours truly. Most importantly, I will gain respect and love from those who deserve it.

Until the new year arrives, the most important question will always be, who are you kissing for this New Year's Eve?

Alcohol Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

A common practice around the world is to engage in an alcoholic beverage from time to time. We cheers in good times, and we toast in solemn times. "To eat, and to drink, and to be merry" - Ecclesiastes 8:15. Probably the only thing meant to be taken literally from the Bible. The fifth Precept in Buddhism is to refrain from intoxicants in order to avoid heedlessness. From this precept I take away that in my rightful mind and willingness to obtain Nirvana, I will have to stop drinking. I am clearly not ready. The same beliefs are held in Hinduism. In Islam it is clearly forbidden to drink alcohol. Yes, throughout the world alcohol exists and it is our choice to enjoy it, abstain from it, or abuse it.

In my opinion, alcohol was discovered and therefore I have an obligation to try it on my own in order to find out if its right for me. So far, I have taken my nights out drinking, (those that I can remember), and used them as learning tools. "Making bad decisions" as most of my friends have labelled it. Personally, I call it allowing my inhibitions to explore themselves.

The other night, I returned home from a night of drinking and found myself in deep thought. I thought about relationships past and future relationships. I deeply considered my surroundings and whether or not I was happy. For the most part, I am happy. I have no major health issues, my family and friends are are well and merry and no one is starving or poor. I am grateful. On the other hand, I am never satisfied and alcohol makes me oh so aware that I have a void that needs fulfilling. (Insert "that's what she said" here.) As I have expressed before, I am a hopeless romantic and a passionate person. When I find something I want I go for it. There is no holding me back. So, what do I do....I drunk text!
I will drunk text or call my interest; maybe, I'll write an email if I'm feeling frisky. What I would much rather do is buy a plane ticket or jump in a cab or find some other dramatic form of transportation and find my way to my Lover as soon as possible so I can make sweet sweet love to him, (or her depending on how many drinks I've had).

Yes, these are the thoughts that flow through my mind when I have been drinking and I am feeling nostalgic. However, would I have said those things to my love interest if I had not been drinking? No. Would I have had the courage to call him after all this time had passed? No. Would I have had the nerves to tell my crush how spectacular he was and how I couldn't wait until we were married? No. Probably should not have said the last one but again, letting my inhibitions go.

If there is one thing I know, I know my alcohol. I know people who have been drinking alcohol and their behaviour on alcohol, (bartending, 101). I have been witnessing this kind of behavior for a very long time and I know that the truth comes out when under the influence of alcohol. So I say, if I have nothing to hide, let the truth be told.

Drunk Girl: "I like you... but I'm drunk don't listen to what I have to say."

Not So Drunk Guy: "I like you too! Come over."

LOL

There, whats the worst that could happen?

In Your Eyes

Let me begin by saying sometimes it is ok to be Cliche, and apparently to rhyme.

Change is coming. Our society is barely surviving in our very own economic depression. Occupy Wall street is proof Americans still have a voice and are not afraid to take the streets and create change. Marriage is just a word and nothing more.

What remains the same?

Love for 80's flicks duh! Where do I start? Oh I know, anything Molly Ringwald. The most popular classics Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club, and my favorite Sixteen Candles. Sixteen Candles can solely take the blame for the boyfriend I chased in high school. The handsome Michael Schoeffling portrays "Jake Ryan," the dreamy popular rich kid in school who is intrigued by Molly for being so unnoticed (Cliche #1). Jake is a hot rich jerk with a soft side??

Oh yea...Long Duk Dong is awesome!

I am still waiting for my cake/candle/table moment.

What would the 80's be without John Cusack? Empty that's what! A large black void in the universe. Better Off Dead, Sixteen Candles, Stand By Me, Grandview U.S.A., One Crazy Summer, Hot Pursuit, and obviously one of my favorites, Better Off Dead are Cusack's most popular 80's hits.

Where is this going?

The love for 80's movies will never change, and never will romantic needs and urges.

I want my very own Lloyd Dobler and I think every girl between the ages 24-35 would have to agree with me. Settling is something most people come to terms with as they get older. Maybe women in particular as we look for security. However, in the back of our minds, we are waiting for Lloyd Dobler and his giant boom box to show up outside of our window and play;

He is not the best dressed, he is not rich, and he doesn't have a nice car. What he does have (other then being John Cusack) is passion and spontaneity. I truly believe that any girl (or guy) worth having would be willing to take a risk and make a change without knowing the consequences if it meant getting the one your heart desires. Yes, I am a hopeful romantic, but I am not naive to the world and the disappointment it holds. Even after this realization, I have decided never to settle again, for the benefit of my happiness and future.

P.S.....the 80's were weird.

C'est L'Halloween

What may be my favorite holiday is right around the corner.....Halloween! The holiday is most commonly descended from the Celts who once lived in present day Ireland and believed October 31st was the night where the living crossed with the dead. We are not so far and between today are we? Ever since I was a little girl I looked forward to the very special day of the year where I could dress up as anything or anyone I wanted to be. From a very round clown to Charlie Chaplin, I was allowed to express myself through the costume and persona of someone else.

As I grow older, I realize Halloween becomes the acceptable holiday of sexual expression. It has morphed in perspective from being someone I want to be, to someone I am not supposed to be. For the past six years I have portrayed; slutty school girl, slutty nun, slutty school girl again, not so slutty Geisha, slutty Daisy Duke, and slutty Raggedy Ann.

Halloween is the one night of the year where age does not matter. North Americans will forever dress in costumes, circle around a keg, and hunt through the crowd to find the masked stranger secreting the right pheromones. Personality seeks through those masks and the thrill of a complete stranger dressed up as the Burger King for example can create an exciting rush. Party after party new characters enter the scene and drink and dance as strobe lights flicker in the background. Gorillas walk by with Snooki and give the head nod of approval.

Overall, I know the age is getting younger and younger where girls feel obliged to wear less on Halloween and that I do not consent to; however, for us grown ass adults who are open enough with our bodies and imaginations I say "Trick-or-Treat!"

TREAT =

A Reading From The Bible

Does true love exist? I used to believe so. The "Bible" led me to believe not. Not the bible you are used to reading about. I am speaking of the Bible written for and about women. SEX AND THE CITY. This show has not deterred me from believing in Love, but it has helped me realize love is a word and a timely emotion. It will come and go.
A reading from Carrie Bradshaw;

Carrie: "Everywhere I looked, people were standing in twos. It was like Noah's upper West Side rent-controlled ark." - "Bay of Married Pigs"

This is Carrie speaking of the relationship epidemic throughout Northern American. Has it become so standard of a man and a woman in their twenties and older to be engaged in a serious relationship? Has society shunned those of us who choose to be single and successful? I think so. Women in general are doomed to a life without happiness unless a man is involved or controlling our future.
A reading from Miranda;

Miranda: "How did it happen that four such smart women have nothing to talk about but boyfriends? It's like seventh grade with bank accounts." - "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"

Is it not true that when we strong independent women get together we have nothing better to talk about then when we are going to get married and to whom? Pathetic. Has he proposed yet? When is he going to do it? I think it comes down to when are we giving up on our wild social behavior and ready to commit to one person and a routine life. Not necessarily a bad thing, but definitely grounds for some shunning.
A reading from Carrie:

Carrie: So what are we going to do? Sit around bars, sipping Cosmos and sleeping with strangers when we're eighty?

Well why not? When all the rest of the world is out there proclaiming they have found true love and then run home to their thoughts of the life that could have been, I will choose to accept the facts. Life is about choices and bettering ourselves. We all die alone anyways.
A reading from my favorite prophet, Samantha:

Samantha: Well, I don't know how you people do it. All that emotional chow-chow. It's exhausting.

And of course the Charlotte hopefuls:

Charlotte: “Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

Anyone who knows me well knows I am a hopeless romantic. I have loved and lost. Now I choose to see opportunity and take it. And so is life....

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

Hello, My name is Cassandra and I am addicted to my laptop. I am addicted to social media, and I am addicted to texting on my cell phone. Being 25 years old I am very comfortable with admitting my surroundings and how easily I adapt to them. Give me 5 minutes with a new device including a hard drive or a data base and its over. But hey, that is just the way our generation works right? Life revolves around social media, or rather, we revolve around it.

Furthermore, there is a matter that needs to be addressed that has puzzled me from the beginning of the creation of this phenomenon.

Why oh why do men love to give and receive pictures via text/email/skype or any other social media? Not only does the action of taking the pictures seem uncomfortable to me (Yes, I have given in) but what would do you do with such a picture after you receive it? This is an honest question. Please, let me know if I am alone in the bewilderment of what could possibly be done with a picture the size of your palm. The obsession of show me, tell me, send me has even taken down senators and role models (i.e., Brett Favre).

Drunk texting and being flirty is a favorite past time of mine. Admitting I have sent and received a picture does not make me a hypocrite, I just like to play the game and see where it goes. To be honest, I now consider it research. So far, this is what I have learned.

Me Tarzan. You Jane. Tarzan want naked picture. Jane send Tarzan picture. Jane sit and wait for a reaction. Tarzan say, "that nice."

What the hell was the point of it? Where does the very exposing, private picture go? Is it in the secret vault only men know about where there are millions of half naked girls floating around in cyberspace?

Even worse, men sending pictures of their uglies. Come on man, do you really think a close up of that thing is appealing? Receiving a picture of a man who has nothing better to do with his time is not exactly a catch in a woman's opinion. This does not include a confident man who is looking well and decides to take a self portrait. But sending your junk through the mail, SMH! It is honestly a horrifying experience to look down at a cell phone, open a text, see an attachment has been sent, and then BLAM! Penis in the face. WHY???

For the sake of maintaining some public decency people, let us keep it in the bedroom or at least in person from here on out.

Where Is The Love?

Wouldn't it be nice to have the simplicity of these lyrics back in our society? The simple suggestion of holding hands went a long way. There was so much left up to the imagination, which is most of the fun in my opinion, and holding hands was just a gateway.

Now, Kelly Rowland describing getting it in is considered a love song. Don't get me wrong, it definitely gets the point across. "You're almost there, you can do it I believe in you baby." What is she, a cheerleader? Everyone has sex, everyone is a bit perverted, it's inevitable. It is just a shame that we skip right over the romance and flirting stages now to get what we want. I believe it will only make the fun and excitement fade faster. I want music that sounds like this:

I don't care who you are, what race you are, when you hear Al Green and his smooth serenade you get excited. Throw some Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding (without Jay-z & Kanye) and some Diana Ross out there, and you are guaranteed a good time. If the children of the future are deprived of real soul and romance then there is no telling what young woman are going to be subjected to. There is no imagination, only expectation. At least we have artists like Adele, Sade, Norah Jones, John Legend, Eric Clapton still performing and writers like Babyface and Richard Marx still composing. Bring back Luther Vandross, Motown, Bob Marley and the heartfelt "one good thing about music, is when it hits you, you feel no pain," to music, please! Ladies and Gentlemen, this is music:

Who Says?

(Yes, it's John Mayer. Press Play and Read!)

Do you ever just sit back and think, "wow, everyone I know is full of shit?" Don't get me wrong, I surround myself with some amazing intellects. However, in the greater scheme of things everyone is just full of shit. Why do we plead and beg our friends and family to give us advice on the world and the endeavors we are about to embark on, when they are in equal or lesser shape than we are? I suppose on some aspect it is therapeutic to banter back and forth with close friends on personal issues that need resolving. For the most part, I am beginning to think I am better off figuring it all out on my own. There is no one else to blame in case of a disastrous outcome, and no one else to congratulate when things fall into place. Me, Myself and I. Give me three beers tonight and I might be singing a different tune, but I have decided at this moment I am alone in the world.

Companionship is nice and greatly appreciated, I get it. It just seems that when we are asking our peers for their opinions, we are going to be unhappy until they tell us exactly what we have already decided. Think about the last friend who cried on your shoulder, or vice versa; tell me you didn't walk away from the conversation feeling unresolved.

I GUESS what I am trying to say is, unless it has to do with the Internet, their are no original thoughts out there. Whatever I am searching for, I will probably find within. A good friend told me to smoke a joint and let the wheels turn. Sometimes, it's needed.

Friends.....go find yourselves.

Kings of Leon or Lil' Wayne? (Title Pre-Cancellation)

This week is a busy week for concerts. I have my Kings Of Leon tickets for Tuesday night already purchased. I have attended their concert once before and needless to say, they have made it into my all time top ten list (live that is). Leaving the KOL show I attended, most people were buzzed, if not hammered. From what I can remember, my friends and I jumped into a limo where there was plenty of vices to choose from, I stuck to booze; I do not like objects or powders in or around my nose. I could sense something had changed. Kings of Leon and their music were infused in our mood and attitudes. We had become the rock stars. Our Limo took us out on the town as we screamed, drank, kissed, and danced. Then we were home, a house filled with friends, who had to decide whether to go back to normal or let the night live on. I saw the morning light as I locked myself in a bedroom, afraid of a friend who decided to bring his gun to the party and wave it around like he just didn't care. The next morning I woke up, dazed and confused. The thought of going back to a simplistic existence was just unsettling, but to each their own. Overall, good times.

Here's my dilemma.

Wednesday night is the Lil' Wayne Concert. ..................................................

HOLD THE PHONE! This just in.

Kings Of Leon cancel U.S. tour because Caleb is drunk. A lot. (The above paragraph was written on July 31st. One day Before KOL cancelled U.S. tour.)
I have re-read my statements. I am disappointed that I had considered returning to my safe, happy, normal existence as "unsettling." I hope Caleb gets help for not being able to control shit thrown in his face. Mad genius or drunk douche?

I will be purchasing Lil' Wayne tickets shortly. Obviously, he has his head on his shoulders! (Please hear my sarcasm).
